It's no joke, sarcasm can help detect dementia

(Daily Mail 17/12/2008)

New research suggests an inability to recognise sarcasm and being unusually gullible are hallmarks of fronto-temporal dementia (FTD), which affects around 11,000 Britons. The disease is the second most common type of dementia in under-65s but it often goes undiagnosed or is mistaken for learning difficulties. Sufferers are often 'written off' as behaving rudely or lacking in empathy.
