Steroid injections cut by clinic
(The Scotsman 10/08/2009)
A clinic for steroid users has convinced about 30 per cent of people accessing its services to stop injecting. The Steroid Drop-In Clinic, the only one of its kind in Scotland, opened in February for a six-month pilot as part of the Turning Point needle-exchange project in West Street, Glasgow. The clinic's aim is to persuade people not to inject steroids. It provides health education packs about the risks, as well as dietary and training regimes to gain the body image people are after.
More Asian teens 'using steroids'
(BBC 20/07/2009)
A growing number of young Asians are using steroids to try and build up muscle and achieve the perfect body, according to drugs workers. While only a small number traditionally used street drugs, they were now "primarily using steroids", he said.
Young people 'double' steroid use
(BBC 11/06/2009)
The number of young people taking steroids may have doubled in five years, according to one of the government's top drug advisers. Professor Les Iversen thinks an explosion in websites selling the muscle-building drug has made it far easier to get hold of. "The great majority of users don't even realise they're taking an illegal substance," he said. Drug workers say steroids bought online are also more likely to be out of date.

They have all been released on police bail until 23 June.
