Cancer drugs 'can increase the risk of blood clots'

Cancer sufferers want Avastin, or bevacizumab, to be given for the advanced stages of kidney and breast cancers. However, the new study shows that the drug increased the risk of blood clots in the deep veins of the legs or in the lungs of patients by one third. Researchers looked at 15 trials in which 8,000 patients had been given the medication, which works by cutting off blood to tumours.
