Mobile phones 'cause skin rash'

Mobile phones users are developing rashes on their faces and ears caused by an allergic reaction to the nickel on handsets, skin experts warn. The British Association of Dermatologists said the phenomenon is being seen in people who spend long periods of time on the phone. Nickel is often found in the handset casing or buttons.

A badge of belonging or a mark of individuality? - Dr Raj Mallipeddi, a consultant dermatological surgeon in London, said while he would not advise against tattoos, he would always recommend care. "There are different types of potential problems following tattooing, including allergic reactions to the ink, which may resemble eczema or even red lumps in the skin."
