Happy outcome

(BBC 19/09/2009)

Charlie Toward was born with a hernia in his groin. His parents knew he needed surgery to remove the lump, but were advised to wait until after his first birthday when he was stronger to cope with the open surgery. However, last month, aged only seven months, Charlie was able to have keyhole surgery - thanks to the donation of some special baby equipment to The Royal London Hospital where he was treated.

'Is my back pain linked to my hernia operation?'

(Telegraph 17/04/2009)

I am 40 years old and for some time was suffering with a direct inguinal hernia on my right side. Four months ago, I had surgery to correct it. All went well but recently I have been suffering from acute pain in my lower back on the right hand side. I have never had any low back pain previously. A friend mentioned that it could be linked to my operation. Or is it just a coincidence?
