A mutant strain of hepatitis B has now killed more than 70 people in the Indian state of Gujarat - part of what is rapidly becoming one of India's biggest medical scandals. The outbreak has been traced to used and dirty hypodermic needles which should have been incinerated but instead were simply washed, repackaged and sold back into the medical industry for reuse.
Hepatitis B Linked to Pancreatic Cancer

In a case-control study, patients with pathologically confirmed adenocarcinoma of the pancreas were more likely to have evidence of past hepatitis B than were matched controls, according to researchers at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. On the other hand, there was no association between pancreatic cancer and hepatitis C, Dr. Hassan and colleagues said in the Oct issue of the J. of Clinical Oncology.
