US 'cancer battle' teen returns

A US mother and her cancer-stricken son have returned voluntarily after fleeing Minnesota to avoid court-ordered chemotherapy for the 13-year-old boy. He is diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma, a highly curable form of cancer when treated with chemotherapy and radiation. Colleen Hauser had said she wished to treat Daniel's cancer with natural methods, citing religious beliefs. The Brown County sheriff said he had dropped an arrest warrant for Mrs Hauser, calling it a "good day".

Cancer battle pair flee US police

An alert has gone out to police forces across the US to search for a mother who fled with her cancer-stricken teenage son to avoid chemotherapy. Colleen Hauser told a Minnesota judge she wished to treat her son Daniel's cancer with natural healing methods before she disappeared with him. She failed to attend a court hearing on Tuesday after an x-ray showed Daniel, 13, had a tumour in his chest. Doctors say he will probably die without conventional treatment.
